Amy Winehouse is Late Again

May 31, 2008 by Sarah

Amy Winehouse is nothing if not predictable. Even though she’s supposedly through rehab and changing her ways, she showed up late to to her first post- rehab gig in at the Rock in Rio festival on Friday night.

According to reports, she was a bit of a mess:

Winehouse’s voice cracked throughout her performance and, at one point, she ran offstage. She had visible cuts on her left arm, a bandage on her right hand and apologized to the crowd for her sore throat.

You don’t know how sad all these reports make me. Amy has so much promise and talent, and she’s one of my favorite singers ever. Too bad she’s on such a downward spiral. Unfortunately, she won’t come clean until she’s good and ready, and that doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon.

Miley Cyrus Breaks Out for Her New Album

May 30, 2008 by Sarah

Miley Cyrus may have a new album about to drop, but you won’t see Hannah Montana anywhere nearby. “Breakout” due to hit the shops on July 22nd, is Miley’s first effort without her Disney show counterpart.

Judging from all the news, gossip and racy images popping up everywhere online, we’re not surprised Miley’s trying to break away from Hannah.

Just don’t grow up too soon, Miley….you’re only 15.

Listen to Jessica Simpson’s New Single "Come on Over"

May 28, 2008 by Sarah

For month’s we’ve been hearing about Jessica Simpson recording a new album filled with country music songs. Today we get a taste. She Plays Music is happy to present you with the audio for Jessica’s new single “Come on Over.”

I’m listening right now and while it’s quite a departure for her, I like it. I think country music suits Jessica Simpson. I was worried she’d try too hard and turn out a little twangy, but it really works, doesn’t it?

Tell me what you think. Listen to Jessica’s new single “Come on Over“.

Madonna Given Honorary Malawi Citizenship

May 27, 2008 by Sarah

I see how it works. Adopt a kid, get an honorary citizenship. You don’t even have to reside in or even visit said country much. I kid. Madonna is being recognized for important contributions to the African nation of Malawi.

The citizenship is said to be for her “work” with Malawi which includes funding orphanages and education programs in that country.

“We are proud as a country to be associated with such a megastar,” Billy Kaunda, Malawi’s deputy tourism and culture minister said.
“She will have freedom of all cities here. She won’t be bothered with issues like visas and other limitations.”

Madonna’s documentary Malawi, I Am Because We Are opened in Cannes this month to critical acclaim.

It’s nice to read about celebrities doing good stuff, isn’t it?

Summer Breeze

I have great memories of summer - going to the Jersey Shore, camping with family or friends, barbecues, picnics and lots of good music. It’s funny how some songs just remind you of summer’s past, mostly in a good way. There’s nothing like hearing a song and going back to the days of hanging out with friends listening to the boom box, or driving down the road with all the windows open blasting a very cool song.  Summer songs make an impression. Amy Winehouse Shows Up Too Late to Accept Award

May 23, 2008 by Sarah

When Amy Winehouse was announced as the winner of the prestigious Ivor Novello songwriting award in London yesterday, she showed up just as her father took the stage to accept on her behalf.

Unfortunately, Amy couldn’t make it, but she is getting better and sends you all her love,” said Mitch Winehouse who, fortunately, was in attendance to accept the award for Best Song for her hit “Love is a Losing Game.”

Perhaps she should re-write the tune to read “Drugs are a Losing Game.” Though it looked for a while that Amy was trying to get her life back in order, she appears to be off the wagon again. Though we’re thinking good positive thoughts for our girl Amy, she has to make the decision to remain clean and sober on her own.

Madonna Auctions Off Contents of Her Purse

May 22, 2008 by Sarah

Madonna emptied out her diamond- encrusted alligator purse the other day and auctioned off the contents. Included in the lot were, lip gloss, mirror, and skin blotting cloths. Just for fun, she also threw in her guitar.

Madonna made it clear her old makeup was worth something. “”This lip gloss touched my lips.” She then asked the audience not to insult her with low offers.

The whole lot was sold for $472,000, an amount donated to AIDS research.
